Description

The sorcerer is traditionally the primary 'crowd control' class of Albion on RVR servers. In PVE this is negated somewhat by the lesser need of Crowd Control and stronger classes in other realms to perform the task ( Bard for example). Sorcerers are a high utility class none the less being a strong pet class being able to charm any mob of an equal level, excellent crowd control with single and area mesmerize and root. They also have excellent damage via the body line, and to a lesser degree the matter line. Can be described as a bit of a 'Jack of all trades, master of none' - A very rewarding character to play at higher levels.

While Intelligence is the primary training stat on the sorcerer in reality dexterity should be your primary focus. Cast speed is everything to a crowd controller and also helps your damage over time no end. With this in mind the two races that lend themselves to the sorcerer role are the Inconnu and Saracen. The Inconnu is naturally more intelligent and the Saracen dextrous. Avalonians and Britons make average sorcerer's while choosing a Half Ogre is just silly!

An Inconnu or Saracen with 10 points added to Dexterity, Intelligence and Constitution makes for a solid base to grow from.


Suggested Speciailzations

Realistically there is only one spec that 'works' on a sorcerer and that is 39 Body and 37 Mind.

This gives you access to the penultimate single target Body nuke, Group 'crack' 4, ability to charm any mob up to your level, single and area root/mesmerize and a few other goodies. It gives you the best utility without too much comprimise. Raising body higher improves your single target damage but at the expense of power regen and pet levels (better to reroll a Wizard!). Raising mind gives you group crack 5, longer mesmerise but poor damage output. As for matter... its a very poor version of the cabalist line with no area DOT's and no utility.

PvE Utility

Sorcerers are not always the most desired character in any group as its not considered to be one of Gaheris' stronger classes. While its not up there with the likes of the Enchanter but its still an extreemly good addition to any group providing decent damage, crowd control, power regen and (especially with ML9) a strong pet. The sorcerer also has access to the confuse spell which is still one of the most underused and underrated spells there is with its ability to save groups from oversized and unmanagable pulls by forcing the mobs to fight one another instead of the group hence buying as much time is needed. They also bring power regen to the group.

They are also a fantastic solo character with secondary speed in their spell list added to all the utility and strong pets make them a one man killing machine. The do, however, suffer from high resist rates when the mobs level increases past low grape. The pet can make up for this, especially when fully buffed if you run a bot. Solo'ing Fire Island with a buffed Gorgon Maiden pet is fairly easy once the teqnique has been mastered. With a bot in tow they are formidible solo characters yet still bring excellent utility to the group.
