Description

The Shaman, in the house of Ymir, are the tribal healers of Midgard. They are the primary buffers of Midgard that also possess offensive magic. Unlike other realms the Shaman is the only Primary Buffer that is not also a Primary Healer, instead they get the secondary healing spec with powerful health regeneration spells often refferred to as "Friggs." They are also the Endo class of Midgard.

Buff Bot Comparison

On Gaheris the Shaman is traditionally enslaved to a more powerful Tank class that tethers the Shaman around at all times. The shaman unlike other class slaves used, the Cleric and the Druid, possesses a Endurance Regen buff that many are chronically addicted to. WIth the addition of a Damage Add Shamen are typically seen as the best bot for tank classes.

For pet classes though a Cleric bot is usually recommended.

One other advantage Shamen have over Clerics and Druids though is that their buff spells are slightly lower in their Buffing (Augmentation) spec line then the others. The last STR/CON buff is at 47 Aug, this allows for a Shaman to spec higher in their healing (Mending) spec then a Cleric or Druid would be able to, and typically results in them having notably larger heals.

The shaman however does not get certain realm abilities that the other Buffing classes get, like Perfect Recovery and Divine Intervention. This is mostly because the Shaman, unlike those classes, is not a Primary Healer.

There is no handsdown perfect bot. Different classes have advantages in different situations. Other classes can also be botted to your advantage too, including Healers, Wardens, Theurgists, Bards and Mentalists.

Recomended Specializations

47 Aug/26 Mend/5 cave. This is your typical "Buff Bot" spec. You get the best stat buffs and respectable heals, including a group Frigg, and all but the last resist buff, which while not used often can be useful in some of the high level encounters.

42 Aug/33 Mend/7 cave. A more healing focussed Shaman. You still get Endo 5 which will allow for unlimited sprinting, you also get a large spec heal and a bigger single target Frigg.

37 Aug/36 Cave/15 Mend. More of a solo spec, you still get yellow buffs, which with +25% buff bonus will get you close to cap at 50. Also bigger damage DDs and Bolts, and the 30% rez. If the group has another healer and you have the +25% buffs, this spec is still very nice in groups because it offers near cap buffs and offense from Cave. You will never be confused with a real caster for damage, but real casters don't hand out buffs or do backup healing.
