Description
Healers are the Primary Healer and Primary Crowd Control class of Midgard, it is also notable that they are the only Primary Healer class that is not a Primary Buffer. The Healer however gets two unique abilities, AE Stun and Celerity, that makes it one of the more popular classes for live healers. Overall Healer is one of the best and most versatile support classes in the game.
Crowd Control
Unlike the other Primary Crowd Control classes, the Sorcerer and the Bard the Healer actually has Crowd Control options that are useful in most groups on Gaheris. Unlike those classes the Healer gets a single target Stun and is the only class in the game to get a AE Stun.
A skilled healer using AE Stun can greatly reduce the amount of healing needed in a PBAE group, and increase the efficiency of the PBAERs as they are less likely to get hit. In general careful use of AE Stun helps PBAE groups run smoothly.
The Healer gets instant forms of Single and AE Mez and Single and AE Stun, which can be handy in a pinch and save groups.
Specializations
Augmentation is the Healer's buffing and solo-oriented line. In this line are Haste buffs, a Healer-Unique group high-delve Haste buff named "Celerity" that stacks on top of the Conc based Haste buff. A very powerful self-only Damage Shield, self-only Damage Add, a self-only STR/CON buff, and Run Speed. Healers are the only 1.0x spec class that has to spec for Run Speed.
Mending is the Healer's Healing line. It is practically identical to the Druid's and the Cleric's. Speccing in it will grant access to bigger and better heals, such as Spread Heals and Instant Heals.
Pacification is the Healer's Crowd Control line. It contains the healer-unique AE Stun and has a Conc based Mana Regen (often called "Crack") buff.
Suggested Specializations
Nearly any spec will be beneficial as a support character, while soloers will want to primarily consider a high Augmentation spec. Common minimums in each line:
40 Mending 100%/50% resurrection and second spread heal. Most healing-specced Healers do not spec above 40 or 42 Mending.
30 Mending First spread heal (unique to primary healers).
25 Mending Third-best Major Heal (often the most-used single-target heal, highest power efficiency next to Minor Heal) and best resurrection (50%/25%) until 40 spec. No spreads.
15 Mending 30%/10% res, plus the increasingly-important cure poison and cure disease. Suffers from large baseline heal variance and is probably not suitable for a main healer.
7 Mending Cure poison/cure disease. Recommended absolute minimum.
40 Augmentation Second-best haste buff and celerity, for 48% total melee speed. Yellow run speed. Healers speccing above 40 Augmentation are generally either pure melee support or intended to solo.
32-35 Augmentation 15% + 31% = 46% total haste frees up many points for other lines, compared to 40 Aug. Main difference between 32 and 35 Aug is run speed.
25-26 Augmentation Same run speed as 32 Aug (138%, at 25 spec), with a total of 36%-40% melee haste.
18 Augmentation First celerity (24%) and 10% conc-based haste for a still-impressive 34% total haste. Speed 2.
35 Pacification Spec levels above 35 Pac are not common on Gaheris, although some spec 36 (instant AE mezz), 38 (instant AE stun), or 45 (red crack - generally caster bots). 35 Pac nets you excellent yellow crack, 9 second AE stun (enough for multiple PBAEs), 52 second AE mezz, and instant single-target mezz and stun.
15 or 25 Pacification Generally aiming for crack 2 and 3, respectively. Neither speclevel gains instants, and both have the same 7 second AE stun. The 9-second difference between AE mezzes is noticeable, but not usually considered important, as mesmerise has very limited uses in PvE.
Sample Specs
35 Mending/22 Augmentation/35 Pacification Yellow Crack and 9 sec AE stun. Large Heals, including a spread heal and 75% single and group instas, and the first Celerity spell. Decent tri-spec healer spec.
33 Mending/19 Augmentation/38 Pacification A more CC oriented tri-spec healer. You still have spread heals and instas, but you get more insta CC including a insta AE Stun.
25 Mending/28 Augmentation/38 Pacification Better celerity, less healing.
30 Mending/15 Augmentation/42 Pacification The best AE stun in the game, spread heal, no celerity though.
48 Augmentation/20 Mending/7 Pacification A more solo-oriented Aug Healer.
